My running has been going really good; I am on day 7 of this new adventure and I am really loving it. First off, I feel like so much better; my energy is through the roof. I really enjoy having time that is just mine, even if it still includes some work. Tonight I ran 2.3 miles which is .2 more than yesterday and I was more than 30 sec faster. WOOOT! I still have tons of work to do but my leg muscles are starting to pop and I really like that.
After my run I was hanging out with the fam in the Kitchen and decided to shoot a video on my cell. So both our boys have been late walkers. Luke still isn't wanting to take the plunge and he is older than a year, he holds onto things and walks but he won't go solo yet. I am hoping he gets his confidence up so he can take on the adventures that come with walking, but I also am in no rush to be chasing him and Ethan..lol

Personality Test Fun
I was bored today and decided to try out a personality test to see where I would be pigeon-holed. The test I took was the Humanmetrics test based on the Briggs Myers and Carl Jung typology. So, after 72 questions I am a ENFJ. What is that? Well they break it down for you;
Strength of Preferences %
Extroverted: 11
Intuitive: 50
Feeling: 62
Judging: 56
Now personally I disagree with the assessment of my personality. I am much more of an extrovert than I tested and less judgemental for sure. The jobs this assessment would play we with was shocking for me as I wouldn't want to do any of them; Teacher, Counsellor, Social Worker, Doctor, Politics, Fashion Merchandiser (maybe that one) and my personal favorite; Computer programmer (HA!). I really think I may need to retake this. One sec...
Okay, I retook the test and really tried to answer honestly and I am still a ENFJ!!! My numerical scores changed however.
Strength of Preferences %
Extroverted: 22
Intuitive: 38
Feeling: 62
Judging: 33
I think that is a bit better, still not keen on the career prospects they put me in but it was fun. What did you guys get?

Sand in the City
For the past four years of living in Olympia I have wanted to attend the Sand in the City event in down-town Olympia, but I always miss it. This year I planned for it and today we finally went. To be honest it was a bit lackluster; the sand sculptures were in the works but I think we should have attended on Saturday to see them in all of their glory. It was super warm today which was nice and the event had crafts for kids and face painting. Ethan didn't want his face painted but Madison and Little T (his besties) got theirs painted.
We met up with Sam for a late lunch and then came home and looked up birthday presents for Ethan on the computer. After Sam got home I went for my run. Running is getting better, I am very sore but I ran farther and better than I have the previous two times; which is great! I am excited but super nervous about the 5k and I hope I don't come in last. Is there any runners etiquette I need to know? I am such a noob. I did buy an awesome sports bra and I can't wait to get it in the mail.WOOT! I got to wear one of my grandma Dorothy's scarves I received after she past away; low and behold it is the second vintage Oscar de la Renta scarf I have discovered in the lot...I love scarves!

Park Time Fun, Run Sara Run!
The weather today was fantastic, so we went to the park with some of my favorite mamas. We ate lunch and let the kids play for hours, gossiped, drank coffee and talked about babies and pregnancy. I played on the dome climber at the park and swung off of it from my knees; I felt like a child again, so fun.
A while back my sister-in-law Shannon asked if Sam and I would like to participate in the "Turkey-Trot" aka Oly Trot. It is a 5k that is on Thanksgiving Day here in Olympia. The track is around Capitol Lake and up around my hubby's work, then back down; I know the area quite well. So, here is the thing; I don't run. I have always wanted to be a runner, but I hate running....like really avoided it at all costs. Now I am thinking I want to do it, which means training time...lots of running.
Tonight I went for my first run since God knows when, it went something like this; I walked to the back road of our housing development, then I started to run. I was thinking, " Wow, this isn't so bad Sara" then, "What the heck is this taste in my mouth?" to, "Omg I can't breath" and then, " My legs are going to break off if I run anymore." Then I would walk for a few minutes and start that process all over again.
On my last leg of the run it turned into, "Just make it to the tree" then once I hit the tree, "Now the mailbox" and, " Just make it to the front door." Finally I was home. I did it!! I feel like doo doo but I DID IT!!!! I am going to go again tomorrow and hopefully be able to run a bit more. We will see how this goes and maybe I will do the 5k.

A Morris Kind Of Day
Today was a typical day in my household, nothing crazy really to blog about; just everyday occurrences. We woke up around 8am and had breakfast, then we watched cartoons and snuggled. Luke went down for his nap, and woke up around 11:30am. Lunch time was full of leftover spaghetti, chicken and a low-carb wrap for me. We played for hours with blocks and toys and then it was nap time for both the boys. Luke didn't want to sleep so we hung out and watched HGTV and played with baby toys.
Finally, Sam got home from work and I made "breakfast dinner;" bathed the boys and put Luke to bed. Ethan is playing Lego Star Wars with Sam for about five more minutes, then story time and bed for him; I am writing this post and chatting on Skype. This is a pretty typical day but I figured it was worth sharing because its honestly what this blog is about, my life. I took some random cell phone pictures throughout the day for you all to enjoy :)

Saturday and Sunday
I had a nice relaxing weekend, after all the hectic weeks we have had it was so nice to chill out. On Saturday we went to this little local burger place that is seriously never open called Van's Burgers we have been wanting to try it for years and finally on Saturday we "left the island." It was a tad pricey but the fries were OMG so good and the meat was so fresh and juicy, I am a big fan!
I rented the movie You Again on Netflix and I really liked it. I love Betty White and Kristen Bell. I really miss the show Veronica Mars that may have been one of my favorites like Battlestar Galactica, Lost and Dexter.
Sunday was another low-key day, Sam took the kids out to get breakfast and let me sleep in a bit. Ethan played in with water in the backyard on his castle then we took naps and I made pulled chicken tacos on low carb tortillas for dinner, YUM!
I went to Walmart in the evening to get a toy organizer for our downstairs which since having Luke has become a hub for children's toys. I was hesitant on buying a cheapo organizer from Walmart but I figured its going to get messed up anyway from the kids so no worries. Ethan and I spent last night building it and he was such a great little helper. Ethan loves constructing things and learning how things work, its one of the many qualities that makes him my favorite little kid ever. Now that we have it built and organized it looks so much more tidy in my living room, which makes me so happy because clutter and mess make me anxious.
I love weekends like this, no big plans just going with the flow. Having kids is the best thing ever but you do feel like you are always going so I have learned to really appreciate the quieter moments. Well I have to go, Luke just figured out how to unlock my cell phone......

Going and Going
Yesterday the kids and I decided to get out out the house for a while. Sam has been at home sick so the kids and I decided to give him some peace and quiet. I met up with some of my gal pals at the Olympia Hands-On Children's Museum which is such a wonderful place for families to spend time. I am super excited because they have started building a much larger building to house the museum down by the Sound; which will be open in 2012!!
After the museum we went to McDonald's and got lunch to take to the park. There is a park right on the boarder of Lacey and Olympia that I really like called Willam A. Bush Park. Its very clean, great toys and there are always little kids for Ethan to play with. So we ate then Ethan played, I socialized and Luke just was squirmy for a few hours then went home for naps. It was a fun day out with my little guys. I tried to make homemade torillas last night for dinner........EPIC FAIL!!!! They were very floury and thick and not pliable. Oh well, I don't really eat bread products anyway, next time I will try Almond flour tortillas...yum!

Party Time
We had Luke's 1st Birthday Party on Sunday and it was rough to say the least. Have you ever had one of those days that despite your best efforts, nothing works like its suppose to? That was Sunday for me. On the plus side, the boys had a great time and I have a few months to re-coop before Ethan's Birthday.
So for Luke's party we decided to keep it low-key and I decided to craft most of the decor in his nursery theme. I had so much craft paper and fabrics leftover from doing Luke's crib bedding and nursery decor, I figured this was a perfect time to use it. I made table and buffet runners, party bags for the guests, banner garlands, cake in a jar, cookie balls and guest hand print art.
So the hand print art was one of the things that didn't work out like I had planned, it looked great when all the guests put their hand prints on it in the colors of Luke's nursery but despite laying it flat the colors some how managed to blend together in some areas and drip....and it would have been so cute in his nursery :(
The cake in a jar (canning jars) didn't really work out so great either. They tasted like cake but looked like six month old cake that went bad in a jar. When making cake in a jar please consider what colors you use; orange, blue and green blend together and look really awful LOL and of course its glass so you can't really hide it.
Lastly the cookie balls, when I made them I accidentally caramelized the almond bark coating and with little time to spare I had no time to go buy more so I improvised and made a cream cheese frosting to coat them in. They were sooooo rich but at least it wasn't a total loss.
Even though it seemed like the universe was working against me, I am so glad Luke and Ethan and their little buddies had a great time. I suppose that it was really makes a successful kid party anyway :)

Turkey Meatballs and Fashion Friend
I am so excited my gamer/fashionable/opera singing friend Sarah-Nicole just got back from a super long opera program in Utah and is back on Skype!!! We spend crazy amounts of time looking and linking fashion, houses and recipes; it is so fun and I love it. I am so glad to have my link loving friend back.
So today for a last minute dinner I made turkey meatball sandwiches. They were amazing. I used my favorite sourdough low carb bread for mine.
Low Carb Meatballs
1lb Ground Turkey
1 Egg
2 tbs minced garlic
1 cup ground up pork rines and parmesan cheese mixed
1 1/4 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp oregano
1/2 basil
1/8 c sugar free ketchup
1/8 c diced green onions
fresh ground pepper
I just mixed them all together then rolled them into balls and baked them on a cookie sheet foiled and sprayed with cooking spray. Cook at 400 for 10 min, flip the meatballs and cook another 10.
I then added them to some spiced up spaghetti sauce and let it simmer for like 20 min. Poured them over toast, added mozzarella cheese and Voila!!!

Happy Birthday Sweet Luke!
My baby boy is 1 today!!! I just can't believe it, my heart aches and is filled with joy too. This year has just flown by at what feels like a rocket pace. We aren't really doing much today since his party is on Sunday so I am just enjoying my time with my two special boys. We went to starbucks and got a few birthday cake pops, Luke was all about those and now its my craft time while he naps, I have so much to do for his birthday preparations. I am just still in shock that he is 1.
